WHAT IS ETHICAL RELATIVISM

WHAT IS ETHICAL RELATIVISM

Is ethics applicable to the whole people in the world in the same sense and spirit? It is not so. What is right in one place may be wrong in another because the only criterion for distinguishing right from wrong is the moral system of the society in which the act occurs.

For example, abortion is condemned as immoral in catholic Ireland but is practiced as a morally neutral form of birth control in Japan. That means ethics is a relative term. It is related to the cultural and legal aspects of the country. This is known as ethical relativism.
